Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find some of the most common questions I am asked about Hypnotherapy, Hypnosis and sessions with me. If you have any questions that aren't covered, please feel free to get in touch.

What happens in the first session?

During the first session, the first half of the session is dedicated to us discussing why you have come to see me and the things you would like to use hypnotherapy for. Prior to your first session you will have completed a questionnaire about yourself, your health and events during your life, so we will discuss these also. Then the second half of the session is your first hypnotherapy session. You will be invited to lay down on the couch and then I will lead you in a guided relaxation.

How much is a session?

I work in packages of sessions to enable the best outcome for clients. How many sessions you need depends on your own personal challenges and what you are seeking Hypnotherapy for. Please get in touch for a chat to find out more.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on what you are looking to treat with hypnotherapy. We will discuss this during our initial phone call but a good guide is usually we will start with 3-6 sessions depending on how you are getting on with the process. Some programmes such as weight loss and anxiety, benefit from a 6-8 session minimum commitment.

Where will it take place?

Hypnotherapy with me can take place face to face or online, both work equally well.. so distance and location is no barrier to working with me. If you would like to see me face to face our  sessions will take place in my bespoke built therapy room which is designed to be a relaxing, tranquil and safe space for you to enjoy. If you would prefer to work online (and some clients do for a variety of reasons which can include distance, work or family commitments or just general comfort), then we will work online via Zoom video call.

Online Sessions

Online Hypnotherapy with me works just as effectively as if you were here in person. I have worked with people across the world and there are a few things that can make your experience better. A good internet connection is essential, and where possible to ensure it is not shared, and a set of headphones ensures the experience is as deep as possible. That's all you need. You can you use a laptop or tablet, and even your phone if needed.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural state for the human body and mind to be in. You will feel deeply physically relaxed. You will be alert and will be able to hear me, although you may not hear every word.

Importantly, you will be in full control at all times, the therapist cannot make you do anything you do not wish to or is against your ethical and moral code. If you wish to stop, you will be able to do so.

Will Hypnosis work for me?

How well hypnosis works for you will depend on a number of factors, but the most important two things are that you need to feel relaxed with your therapist and motivated for creating change. I offer a free consultation chat so that you can ask me any questions you may have, as well as to see if you think you would like to work with me, and you must be motivated to change.

Will I be in control?

You will be in control the entire time and should you wish to stop the session at any time, you will be able to. I cannot make you do anything you don't want to do.

Are there any side effects of hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a completely natural state which you will have experienced many times before. The only side effects you will experience are a sense of well being and calm. Clients often report sleeping better, feeling calmer, more confident and a general sense of well being following sessions.
